COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES
Below are the measures we have put in place to keep our attendees safe at swimming.
Please familiarise yourself with these before coming along.
At the bottom of the page there is also a video walkthrough to show you what things will be like at the pool.
Please do not attend our events if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in contact
with someone who has symptoms or has tested positive for coronavirus.
Heeley Pool now has a restructured timetable so our sessions will now be every Saturday at 12.15 - 1.15pm from 22nd May.
The new timetable includes a 30 minute gap between sessions to allow deep cleaning between each booking. This also means that the only people who will be present at the pool (besides the lifeguards) will be people attending our session.
You will now have to book a place to attend a swimming session. If you have booked and are unable to attend, please cancel your booking to allow somebody else to go instead.
We have set the maximum number of attendees at 16 to make it easier to maintain a safe distance from other participants and the pool staff.
TEST AND TRACE
When booking your place you will be asked to give your name, phone number and email address and to confirm you agree to being contacted as part of Test and Trace.
We have implemented a pay what you feel system for subs fees. All payments will be online via Paypal when booking - if you're unable to pay via this method then choose a free ticket.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE POOL
Please wait outside the pool building until a member of the Trans Active committee has signed you in.
There will be a one-way system in place at the pool. You can still enter via the front door but the exit will now be the fire exit next to the sauna. Entry will only be permitted 5 minutes before the start of the session.
Please observe social distancing whilst within the building and wear a face covering when arriving and leaving if you are able to.
Please arrive "swim ready" (with your swimming stuff on under your clothes).
We’ve been asked to use changing cubicles on one side of the pool only to speed up cleaning between sessions.
The showers won't be available so please shower at home before the session. The sauna will also be closed.
There will be one gender neutral toilet available on the poolside.
IN THE POOL
The pool will be split widthways into 3 lanes.
The Novice Area in the shallow end will be for resting or if you just want to float about. The Medium and Fast Lanes will be for swimming widths in a clockwise direction.
If you are able to, please enter and exit the pool from the sides rather than using the steps.
Always attempt to maintain a safe distance between yourself and other swimmers.
Don’t overtake someone while swimming, wait until they have stopped at the edge of the pool.
If you stop to rest, keep to the edge of the lane to allow others to swim past you while maintaining a safe distance and turn your head away from them as they come past you.
If you'd like more information, Swim England have published a guidance document for pool users which has advice on how to keep safe when swimming. Click the button below to view the document.
SAFETY MEASURES VIDEO
We've also put together a video covering our new safety measures and letting you know what to expect when you come to swimming.
