CODE OF CONDUCT

Trans Active is inclusive of all trans and non-binary people. We use these as umbrella terms - if you identify with these or similar gender identities and feel you’d benefit from being in a trans focussed space, you are very welcome to attend. This includes people who are questioning their gender.

Our activities are open to people of all abilities, fitness and skill levels. Our focus is on having a go, trying new things and meeting people, not being competitive or critical of others. Although we strive to be inclusive, the facilities available to us may not always be inclusive of all disabilities. We will provide specific accessibility information for each of our events.

By attending our events you agree to abide by our code of conduct:

RESPECT

  • Use the names and pronouns that people have asked you to use for them.

  • Don’t assume someone’s gender or pronouns, and avoid using gendered language to refer to people whose pronouns you don’t know - e,g. use “they” instead of “he” or “she”, “person” instead of “man” or “woman”.

  • Don’t ask personal questions eg about someone’s background/transition/medical history unless they’ve indicated they are happy to answer them.

  • During our swimming sessions, the changing rooms/showers and toilets on poolside are gender neutral and anyone can use whichever they feel comfortable with. Don’t question which changing room or toilet someone is using.

CONFIDENTIALITY

  • Maintain the confidentiality of people attending our events, eg don’t discuss who was at a session and don’t out anyone by telling other people you met them at Trans Active.

  • If you’re taking photos or recording videos at our events, ensure you have permission from everyone who is visible/audible in the shot.

  • Trans Active may post photos from our events on our social media pages - we will ask permission before taking group photos, and may take some photos which are anonymous eg without showing faces.

  • If you’re in a photo we post and would like it to be removed (or to be blurred/cropped out), we’re happy to do this for any reason or at any time.

COVID-19

  • Do not attend our events if you have tested positive for Covid-19, have Covid-19 symptoms, or have been in recent contact with someone who’s tested positive.

  • If you test positive for Covid-19 within a few days of attending one of our events, please let us know so we can inform other people who attended the event that they may have been exposed.

  • You are welcome to wear a face covering to our events if you wish.
